Pastor Sven Verbeet is an LGBTQ friendly minister based in Houston, Tx.
I have served as the Senior Pastor of Gateway of Hope since March 2012. Being able to be there for families in times of joy and sorrow, celebration and pain, is highly fulfilling to me and a privilege for which I am very grateful. In addition to my pastoral duties, I have been very fortunate to lead large teams as a Director of Strategy and Operations for a large national retailer.
I was first ordained by the Assemblies of God in 1993, and since 2012 with both The Covenant Network as well as Gateway of Hope. Through my 30 years of ministry I have been honored to serve couples on their special day on many occasions.
Meet Pastor Sven Verbeet
I was born in Kaisersaultern, Germany, and moved to the US as a young child when my mother married my step father who was stationed in the US Military there. Once we arrived here, we became involved in a church, where I had a wonderful pastor who mentored me and helped me discover my call to ministry. I met my husband in 2016, and married him in March 2018. In my free time I love to sing, play piano, and of course spend time with my family and our two dogs and two cats.

My advice to every couple I’ve married has been this. Hand in hand you enter marriage, hand in hand you step out in faith. The hand you freely give to each other is both the strongest and at the same time most tender part of you. In the years ahead you will need both strength and tenderness. Be firm in your commitment. Don’t let your grip become weak. And yet, be flexible as you go through change. Don’t let your hold become intolerable. Strength and tenderness, firm commitment and flexibility, of such is a marriage made, hand in hand.
